New Ships Balance Discussion Thread

Thought I'd give us all a convenient, single-thread to work through this. 

A number of people have pointed out several balance issues brought on by the new patch, whether they be new ships that aren't worth it, or nerfs to old ships that make them far less useful. I think there are more cases of this than have currently been brought up, so I think we should all work together to try to identify all of these trouble zones and provide constructive feedback on how they might be addressed. I'll start:


With regard to the KM CA line, there are a couple of issues:

The Blucher 1945 seems to be a complete downgrade from the Blucher, with lower alpha damage and DPM, lower defense level, and even slightly lower speed. Making matters worse, it still lacks a scout and AA like its tier VII counterpart. At the very least, I think the ship deserves an AA battery, considering that this is, after all, a fictional "1945" variant, and that the ship did have guns capable of firing AA shells, IRL. 

The Deutschland has arguably been made effectively worthless by two changes: A nerf to the damage of her guns, and the addition of the Prinz Eugen. The Eugen, when fully upgraded, has the same alpha damage and DPM as the Admiral Hipper did prior to the patch (the damage on the Hipper's final gunset was nerfed by around 50 damage/shell in this patch). Prior to the patch, the Hipper was easily capable of out-damaging the D-land. Though it had lower damage-per-shell, it had a higher damage-per-salvo and a higher rate of fire. The Hipper also had (and has) a far better AA battery than the D-Land. However, the D-land was still, in some senses, worth the grind, as it offered significantly more speed than the Hipper, as well as a smaller profile and higher defense level.
However, since the Tier X CA's all have the same upgrade path as the Tier XI's, these advantages are now gone from the D-land. With the addition of the Eugen, we now have a ship that combines the damage of the old Hipper with the speed, DP, and defense level of a D-land. Worse still, the D-land's damage on its final gunset was paradoxically nerfed by around 300 damage/shell in this patch. Now, the only advantages to the D-Land are its small size and extra range -- hardly worth 4 million exp. 

I'm on the fence about how to address this one. I don't think the speed of the D-Land should go any higher, which may mean that the Eugen is in need of a speed nerf, but that would also mean nerfing the speed of every other Tier X CA, which may or may not be as requited. Perhaps an easier fix would be to increase the D-Land's alpha damage to a level greater than that of the Eugen, even if it means increasing the reload time.
