Remarks about battleship accuracy

I just finished test-riding the South Dakota (T10 USN BB). Before the recent patch, it was regarded by us manual users as having the most accurate 16'' cannons, sacrificing about 200m of its indicated range for a tighter spread than its closest counterparts the T9 North Carolina and the T11 Iowa. It also moves like a slug (it plods on at 18 knots, overheating to 22 with non-prem boiler and miscellaneous support equips). That is to say, all three ships are supposed to have a range of 2562m in the stats window, but the South Dakota's cannons only fire about 2350m max at 45 degrees. Your gun-line is longer than the shells can travel.

Setup:
Gunners maxed accuracy, manual controls bonus, 5% non-premium accuracy boost equip, 200% morale

I'm getting perfect blockshots about once every 4 salvos. The rest are extremely tight, perhaps within a circle of 100m (a third of a BB's shiplength). How close they land to each other also depends on the ship's turning angle - it's easiest to land shells close to each other on a 90-degree broadside. If I predict the lead right I'd probably land 5/9 shells at worst.

I'd say these results are pretty in-line with the new NF2 update, which strives to bring the game closer to the original Navyfield. With completely maxed out end-game stats you'll get blockshots every now and then, but not always. And this is with the game's most accurate BB; who knows about the Yamato or the actual T11s which people would use in competitive play.

Wednesday, Manual Fleet
